TEMPO NO CORPO / TIME THROUGH THE BODY. Vanesa Sexto

Novembro 8, 2010

Instalación, de carácter efémero, composta de vinte e sete frascos. Formúlase a intención persoal da conservación do propio corpo e a imposibilidade de conseguilo, manifestándose  simbolicamente no desgaste progresivo do papel fotográfico através do líquido, ata a súa total disolución co paso dos días.

A installation, of an ephemeral nature, is made up of twenty-seven . This way, the personal intention of the body itself is expressed, the same as the impossibility of reaching it, symbolically making the gradual deterioration of the photographic paper evident through the liquid, up to its complete dissolution with the passing of time.

Desaparece A Nosa Terra pero INÉDITO segue / A Nosa Terra disappears but INÉDITO continues

A Nosa Terra disappears but INÉDITO continues

Two years ago, the Project INÉDITO (Unpublished) was born with the intention of presenting non-published works, paying special attention to the young people of Galiza and at the same time aiming at creating a dialogue with already consolidated artists from other contexts.

All throughout this time, 22 projects have come to light both through the blog INEDITO and the two-page spread reports which were being published in the weekly magazine A Nosa Terra up to this September when the publication of this periodical came to an end. After some thought the INÉDITO project continues on its course by means of the aforementioned blog.

It was in September when a web page called Vieiros and a blog named Chuza disappeared and with them the weekly magazine A Nosa Terra, all of them involved with the defence of the Galician language and three outstanding frames of reference in their own respective fields.

At the same time, the Decree of the Ministry of Education of the Xunta de Galicia* was raised in an attempt to forbid the teaching of certain school subjects in Galician language, a right that in practice we had managed to exercise since the last years of the Franco period. These are bad times for our language-although others have been worse-, but the “One Thousand Springs More”* claimed by Cunqueiro will arrive sooner or later.

*A Nosa Terra: A weekly magazine which has recently disappeared

*Xunta de Galicia: Galician Government

*”As Mil Primaveras” is a text written by Alvaro Cunqueiro which can be read as the quietened voice of the people in Galicia at that time, expressing his willingness to preserve the use of the Galician language for “One Thousand Springs More”.
