PHOTOS SANS MURS

Este proxecto ten como epicentro un mercado de segunda man chamado Jeu de Ball en Bruxelas, un lugar que abre practicamente todos os días do ano, neve ou chova, e que é un verdadeiro xacemento arqueolóxico dos media.

Moita xente compra os marcos para substituír as imaxes antigas por outras. As fotografías carecen do seu valor simbólico posto que o vínculo familiar desaparece e a imaxe convértese máis que nunca nun obxeto, nunha pegada espectral do pasado. Estas imaxes pertencen ao mundo orgánico das impresións, positivadas mediante procesos químicos, algunhas delas coloreadas, e con coidadas postas en escena realizadas por fotógrafos profesionais. Son aparencias do pasado que nos advirten do noso propio destino. Na retina dos retratados podemos contemplar o misterio e a caducidade da vida.

As fotografías no mercado convértense en mercancía, entran e saen dos camións sen ningunha embalaxe que as protexa, e cada día que pasa, vanse deteriorando: móllanse, os cristais rompen, os marcos deixan ao descuberto a escaiola, …

As fotografías acumúlanse con outros obxectos, moitos deles son as propias pertenzas dos fotografados esparexidos no chan caóticamente como auténticos bodegóns do que queda cando xa non queda nada, de cando as estancias abandónanse porque a vida acábase. Moitas das miradas parecen estrañar aquela parede familiar do fogar onde estiveron pendurados durante anos. Son fotografías sen muros. Sen casa.

This project focuses on a flea market called ‘Jeu de Ball’ in Brussels, an outdoor place that is open almost every day of the year come snow, wind or rain.

Many people buy frames to replace thier old images for new ones. These old photos have lost their symbolic value as a family bond, causing the image to become more than ever an object, a spectral fingerprint of the past. These images belong to the organic world of impressions, developed via chemical processes, some painted, others with a careful treatment processed by professional photographers. They look like appearances from the past that warn us of our own destiny. In the eyes of the people portrayed, we contemplate the mystery and expiration of life itself.

The photographs in the market become merchandise without a price tag. Everyday photographs are moved from the trucks without any packaging or protection and they deteriorate in every movement, wet with broken glasses, frames without plaster. ..

The photographs are accumulated with other objects, many of them are them belongings, chaotically scattered on the floor like authentic still lifes, reminiscent of when there is nothing left, like when a home is abandoned because its life has come to an end.

Many of them seem to miss that oh so familiar wall where they were hung for years. They are photographs without walls. Homeless.

A súa obra  foi exposta en espazos públicos e artísticos en Barcelona, Londres, Berlin, Amsterdan,  Riga, Rome, Vienna, Zagreb entre outras cidades. O seu traballo basease na escultura e fotografía.
